It's Mother's Day here in Ireland this coming Sunday (the 15th March) and since I love doing arts and crafts I like to make little gifts with the children for their mum at this time of year!
I know Mother's Day isn't until May for some people but if you're celebrating it this weekend or in a few months here are some cute craft ideas to make!!!
This is what we did last year for the girl's mum's birthday. It's a lovely simple craft that small toddlers can do but that older children will also enjoy and would make a great Mother's Day gift. Painting pasta and then threading it onto some string to make a necklace. We also made a bracelet but I have no picture of that!
For Valentines Day this year we made little bouquets of "heart flowers" for both sets of grandparents. I cut out heart shapes and the girls decorated them with pieces of lace and ribbon, I then taped them onto the top of straws and tied them together with ribbon. The grandparents loved them!
This is what the girls made their parents for Valentines Day. I cut out a bow shape, which the girls again decorated with lace and ribbon. I used a heart shape to write the message on and I taped a straw to the back for the "holder"
It was Grandma's birthday a few days after Valentines so me and the girls made her a flower picture using their handprints. I love how this turned out so I bought a frame for it!
All these things were made for Valentines or birthdays but they would work just as well for Mother's Day too!
Now we're on to what we actually made this year for Mother's day! For the card we made potted hand print flowers. The girls absolutely love glueing and sticking so they decorated their pots with the ribbon and lace! I then drew around their hands on purple paper and they stuck on some material flowers.
All put together it looks like this !!
For the gift I decided to make little thumbprints out of polymer clay (fimo) and attach them to a necklace. I used to make jewellery so I have lots of spare necklaces lying around unused, but if you wanted to do this a super cheap necklace from Primark or the equivalent would work just as well! I just love how these turned out! I used an old necklace box to present it in and I just know she's going to LOVE it when she opens it! A little gift from them that will last forever!
Thanks for stopping by...
Ali xoxo
